Corte Campana
Having left rural Italy several years ago, Christian has now made a name for himself by bringing his authentic Neapolitan pizzas to Stratford-upon-Avon’s town centre. Just a stone’s throw from the pretty riverside sits his quaint and charming pizzeria, which regularly sees queues out the door for their famous slices. Our local agent Grace visited Corte Campana on a sunny afternoon to see what the fuss was about…
Entering the quaint shop, the distinct chatter of happy customers becomes the soundtrack along with the hum of Italian accents from the chefs in the background. There’s something so charming about this little restaurant that you instantly feel transported to a bustling pizzeria within a cute Italian town in the middle of summer, something that founder Christian was adamant he wanted to bring to Stratford – “I wanted to create somewhere that feels like home. That was my aim and I think that has definitely been achieved”. We can’t help but agree as we tuck into two incredible pizzas that the chefs have whipped up while we’ve been chatting. “The feedback in Stratford has been phenomenal” which is confirmed when the couple enjoying their pizzas on the next table to us look over at us and say “This is the best pizza we’ve ever had!”.
Christian is looking to bring the Italian dream a little further afield and plans to open another spot in the surrounding areas soon. Success in Stratford will continue to grow with a large hotel chain in the pipeline within the old Debenhams building, sitting right next to the pizzeria: “This will make Corte Campana a hotspot for tourists too as well as local residents.”
Simple, fresh ingredients, impeccable customer service and friendly staff combine to create a real hub for Stratford locals and we’d encourage anyone living or visiting the area to pay a visit, you won’t be disappointed.
