A week with The Clarke’s…

Hello! I’m Danni, a work experience student who has been learning about the world of work with Mr and Mrs Clarke over the past week. I have had a great time working with everyone in the office and just want to say a big thank you for having me!

I have had a great time and have learnt a lot about what an estate agency is, what they do and the individual roles within the business. For the week I was allowed to take over the Mr and Mrs Clarke social media. A very big responsibility! I had to make Instagram posts and stories everyday as well as on LinkedIn to create a bigger platform for Mr and Mrs Clarke.

On Monday I was first introduced to the office and the wonderful people in there, Alex and Paul as well as Emma and Grace. They have made this a fun experience for me and I wish I could stay longer! They set me up with everything I`ll need for the week and then I had a look to find out more information about them through their website. Later in the afternoon, we headed down to Stratford for a photoshoot. The house was beautiful, and we took lots of pictures to go on social media. The man was also kind enough to give me a nice cold coke which was perfect for the extremely hot weather.

On Tuesday we stayed in the office and prepared posts and reels to post for later. It was much better sitting in the cool office than outside in the 40-degree weather.

On Wednesday we started extra early to travel a two-hour journey to Surrey to meet the new agents Claire and Steve. They were lovely people and I enjoyed meeting them. They took us around the town and showed us some of their favourite places. I especially liked The Victoria Garden which was a former Victorian open-air swimming bath as it was very beautiful and full of colourful flowers.

On Thursday it was another office day. I posted a reel of our experience in Farnham and the interview with Claire and Steve, later in the afternoon we took the office dog Marlowe on a short walk with Emma and Grace. It was much more pleasant in the cooler weather than the scorching sun that we had during Monday and Tuesday.

Finally, on Friday I finished this Journal and created a post for a future competition! It was a great day, we ate donuts, listened to music and I learned how to upload this journal to their website! When learning how to edit the website it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. It only took a few simple steps to have this Journal created. I couldn’t have done it without help from Emma!

My time working with an estate agency has really inspired me to go into more depth with my love for business. I can definitely say I consider this as a potential career I would like to pursue later on in my life. Working with The Clarke`s has given me a taste of what a business has to offer and I would especially love to work in a social media area of a company. Although it is a big responsibility, it shows the reality of what goes on behind the scenes of all the hard work, particularly in an estate agency, where you have to go to different locations and take part in photo shoots to showcase a house or a small village.
