Bloody Mary

This week it’s all about the beets. ¬†As mentioned in our ‘Beetroot Love‘ post, beetroot has a number of nutritional benefits during exercise but it can also make a real show-stopper cocktail too or a cleansing juice (without the vodka!) ¬†Beetroots are currently in season now and throughout the summer into autumn, so there is no excuse, now is the perfect time to try your beets in a different way.

Serves 4

INGREDIENTS

4 medium beetroots
4 celery sticks
1 lemon
2 limes
2 teaspoons fresh horseradish (grated)
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon Himalayan salt
1/8 teaspoon white pepper
100ml vodka
150ml water
ice cubes to serve

METHOD

Wash the beetroots, celery and citrus fruits and chop so they fit your juicer.

Juice into a large jug and add the rest of your ingredients, minus the ice

Serve into tall glasses over ice and add garnish if you like – fresh herbs, celery stick or a dash of Worcestershire sauce
