Did you know that drinking beetroot juice can boost stamina, strength and endurance during exercise? No. Well you need to get to the beet.
Nutrition – Rich in folic acid, fibre, manganese, potassium, iron and antioxidants. Studies indicate nitrates in beetroot can help lower blood pressure.
Grow – Free draining and fertile soil in full sun. Sow in a short row every couple of weeks for a steady supply. Speed up germination by soaking the seeds overnight before planting.
Harvest – Pick baby beets when large enough to eat.
Best – Boltardy is an old fashioned beet resistant to bolting.
