Founded in 1993, Cavells has since evolved into one of the most successful independent fashion stores in the UK. Cavells provides some of the most stylish and selected shopping for men and women outside London. It’s now owned by The Taylor Family, with Corry Taylor at the helm, who are originally from Rutland.
Tell us how the shop came to be and what makes Cavells unique?
The original Bradshaw Taylor business started on our site on 1895 trading animal supplies. Mill street is now home to fabulous independents and offers everything you need to unwind and indulge and we house a number of the country’s leading brands.
What is your favourite thing on the shop floor right now?
The Essential Antwerp transitional collection with bright graphics and trendy mixes of colour is definitely up there as one of our favourite collections!
What is your favourite thing about having a shop in Oakham?
We bring a one stop shop experience to rural Rutland and we love that customers can visit us and meet our team who have a wealth of knowledge, whilst also enjoying a day out in buzzing Oakham.
I have to agree, the staff here are always so friendly and helpful. We’ve shared some of our favourites pots to eat/drink in Oakham in this series, so we’d love to hear yours?!
The Cavells team love their coffee from Fika or The Larder and our customers love the shopping events we do alongside Hitchin’s Barn.
They’re my favourites too! Do you have any top tips or hidden gems for those looking to visit or move to the area?
Rutland Water is the perfect place to stroll followed by a visit to one of our lovely local pubs. We can dress you head to toe to create your ‘path to pub’ look! Oakham itself is pretty, relaxed and historic and has got a great mix of independent shops and markets.
What’s next in store for Cavells?
Our festive collections are arriving in store daily and our staff are always on hand to offer personal service.
We can dress you for any winter event or Christmas party and you can buy all your Christmas fun and
fashionable gifts with us this Christmas!
