Cut Backs

After weeks of hearing about tax cuts and public service cuts and cut throat politics – here is a gentler guide of what needs cutting in the garden:

Keep on cutting back and pinching your perennials to encourage a bushier habit or to get clean new growth from the base of the plant. If you’re unsure, experiment with a few cuts or pinches and see what happens. You may be pleasantly surprised.

The key to a hassle-free lawn is to cut it regularly. If you can get into the swing of doing it once a week, the job becomes super-fast, and you don’t even need to remove the clippings: just let them shoot out past your ankles and onto the cut grass to feed the lawn itself.
