Home Stories: Church Lane

The dreamy old part of Stamford is filled with lots of curiosities from antique shops and Georgian cottages.
The people of Stamford have really great taste, so
Church Lane was a treat to style and sell.
This home was a
breath of fresh air inside and out; not only is it a tranquil oasis in the heart of this bustling
market town, but the sellers were a gorgeous family to work with.

It’s no surprise Danielle & Ben Treanor’s home has been designed so carefully and curated in a detail-orientated
fashion, as they are the creative duo behind Old English Co. Here’s their story…

1. What will you miss most about Stamford?

We have moved to a village only a few miles out of Stamford. So although we are still close and only a short drive into town, I will miss living in the centre of Stamford amongst it all. Surrounded by the beautiful Georgian buildings and with the luxury of being a short walk away from both the meadows and Burghley house!

2. What is your favourite part about living in Stamford?

Stamford may be a small town but it’s bustling. There’s so much going on! There’s a great high street at the core of the town with a great vibe, lovely shops, and plenty of places to eat. For me, another big bonus is how easy it is to get into London from Stamford. Take the fast train from Peterborough and you can be at Kings Cross within the hour.

We had our first baby not long after moving from London to Stamford. Ben is lucky enough to be from Stamford and grew up here, but for me, most of my experience of living in Stamford has been as a mum. I love that there’s a real sense of community here. There’s plenty of things to do with babies and children. I have made some great friends and met some pretty cool mamas!

It’s a really special place to live and we feel very lucky to be raising our young family here.

3. What’s your top tip for someone moving here?

Go and explore. There’s so much to do and see. Not just in Stamford but in the surrounding areas too!

4. How was your experience with Vicky and Mr and Mrs Clarke?

It was really fantastic. Vicky is great to work with! After our house was extensively renovated throughout, we wanted to ensure the sale photography was worthy of the time and effort spent doing up the house. The styling by Vicky was exceptional and paired with the photography through Mr and Mrs Clarke’s service, it meant that our house was shown in its absolute best light to potential buyers. But more importantly, it sold the lifestyle so we could attract the right buyer for our home.

5. So what’s next for The Treanor’s?

We have just finished doing up a lovely, cute cottage. We love it. It’s not our forever home but we will certainly enjoy living here for the next few years.
I think we will always be the doer-upper type of people, always seeking a project. The end goal is that we’d love to build a home. So we can design the whole thing and make it just how we want it.

We will continue to follow Old English Co. and your cottage journey. We will be sure to catch up at The George soon. All the best!
