Lifestyle 13 | The Boot Offer
Dinner For Two & A Bottle of Wine at The Boot Courtesy of Mr & Mrs Clarke
Mr & Mrs Clarke Estate Agency are offering dinner and drinks for anyone who sells their home through them this Autumn.
Mrs Clarke sometimes thinks that I am married to the local pub and not her. You spend more time at the pub than with me! is her pointed quip when I start putting my coat on and tell the dog it is walkies time.
Marital arguments aside, a pub is the lifeblood of a village. We are often asked the question where is the nearest pub? when people are looking at buying a house. If you are lucky enough to live in Lapworth, you can be proud to say that The Boot is my local boozer and it is blinkin’ brilliant.
In the name of research, to find out why Lapworth locals love living here, I have spent many evenings, weekend afternoons and, occasionally, midweek lunch times (don’t tell Mrs C.) in this great pub. As far as pubs go, The Boot is hard to beat, even George Orwell would have enjoyed this place. When I went in last Friday afternoon to interview Dan Rossiter, The Manager, it was easy to see why locals love spending time here. There was a gentle hum of conversation around the bar, several glamorous ladies were giggling over a long lunch and one of the regulars was dishing up plenty of banter with the bar staff. Being part of the community is really important. We get involved in lots of events and we love our locals, was the reply from the affable Dan. The highlights of the year are firework display, Christmas and big sporting events. But it’s great in here throughout the year when locals come in for a drink and the place is packed with friendly faces.
People come from far and wide to sample the delights from The Boot kitchen. The Sunday lunch is well worth a visit. The pub also attracts business types who are working at the NEC for mid week dinners and it is a real destination for urban dwellers wanting to sample a bit of countryside. But it’s the real, local feel that makes The Boot so special. You will always see a familiar face at the bar and people feel comfortable to strike up a conversation. The bar staff are beautiful and friendly in equal measures.
For fans of interior design, the decor of The Boot has a pimped up country pub vibe. Animal furs, leather chairs, dark wood, beams and stag horns. The bar room design encourages people to stand and chat around the bar, which is warm and intimate. There are some tables for groups of people to gather around and watch the comings and goings. The dream seat is the big table in the window, next to the huge fire. Many a night has been spent sat with friends around here drinking and laughing. The dog is always grateful for this spot on a cold winters evening. If you are looking for home decorating ideas, The Boot has endless inspiration.
My favourite tipple is Ubu, a tasty ale from the clever brewers at Purity. Mrs Clarke is partial to a bottle of prosecco.
