Gen Rules

We are delighted to welcome Gen to the Mr & Mrs Clarke team. Gen is the new estate agent in Stratford Upon Avon and surrounding villages. What Gen doesn’t know about the area isn’t worth knowing and with a glittering career in marketing and a passion for property she is perfectly placed to help home buyers and sellers.

We thought it would be fun to ask her a few questions to introduce herself. But if you want to chat with Gen about selling or buying in and around Stratford Upon Avon drop her a line on gen@mrandmrsclarke.com

What would your desert island indulgence be?
Ooo the thought of being on a desert island right now sounds lovely! I would definitely pack all those books I have failed to finish over the last few years and a radio – I couldn’t be without my Jeremy Vine fix and of course I’d make sure to redirect my Living etc subscription!

Fantasy dinner party guests?
I love a good dinner party, but who to invite??? I’m a huge fan of Jamie Oliver and think he’d be great for a night out, but dinner… what if the food wasn’t up to scratch? I think I would invite Prince Harry; I bet he has some great stories, Sara Cox; very entertaining and Richard Branson; I’d love to get a few tips! Oh, and if I could include a musician it would have to be the man of the moment Ed Sheeran!

What’s your favourite part of Stratford?
Stratford is a wonderful place to live, it’s such a beautiful part of the country and the river is just breath taking. I enjoy walks along the river or taking out a rowing boat and indulging in a picnic and a glass of something. I have also recently discovered New Place, the garden where William Shakespeare’s house use to be – its heaven! It’s like a little piece of paradise in a busy town, somewhere to sit and relax or discover something new about the man himself.

Top property tips?
I personally think, if you are going to make any changes to your home or garden, then it is important to live in that space and see how you use it. The layout you have now, may not work as well as it could and changes in light throughout the day and year can have dramatic effects on the feel of a space. Also try different things, draw lots of plans and create a mood board including key pieces and design your colour scheme and furniture around these items.

Which paint colour describes you?
In a previous job, I use to have great fun naming different fabric colours and would spend many an afternoon looking through Farrow & Ball’s website at their amazing paint names. I will exclude names like Elephant’s Breath and Dead Salmon – maybe it should be a military colour to go with my military sounding name ‘Gen Rule’! Or something like Dix Blue – a beautiful relaxed green blue – both warm and easy to live with (mmm, maybe on a good day!)

What would be in your interiors 101?
If I could choose anything to enter the interiors Room 101 it would have to be woodchip wallpaper! Not only is it not a great look, I have also had the unfortunate task of removing woodchip from a previous home – let’s just say it was a time consuming job!
