Morton Paddox

Rooftops, a modern masterpiece

When visiting any property for the first time, you are looking for that WOW factor and Rooftops has more than one WOW factor. The architectural features flow through the house and marry it up perfectly with the historical garden features which lay beyond. The woodland at the end of the garden gives you your own nature reserve to keep your eyes glued when sitting on the balcony sipping a G&T. You can even leave the gate down to the woodland open and let the nature flood into the rest of your garden, watching the deer sip their water from the Lilly pond. In the summer you can get down and be at one with the nature, enjoying a BBQ and drinks all served from the summerhouse kitchen.

The history of the house is as impressive as the interior. Moreton Hall in Moreton Morrell was built between 1909-1915 for an American banking family. Here the American and Indian cricket teams came to compete on the first-class cricket grounds, as well as hosting racing and accommodating a polo ground. He was truly into entertaining. He then built Moreton Paddox house and its beautiful gardens for his sister (something I think my sister has noted!).

Rooftops stands in the grounds of the Edwardian mansion that was requisitioned for the occupation of hundreds of Czechoslovak soldiers during the Second World War. Winston Churchill came to inspect the troops when they were stationed at the house near Leamington Spa. A covert operation to assassinate one of Hitler’s top men was even launched from the estate. Now that is impressive. Some of the Edwardian grandeur remains, like the sweeping stone steps that lead to the formal gardens.

Now stands a modern architectural masterpiece, which has won several prestigious architectural awards and has been featured on several television programmes. Everything about the home screams style and luxury and you feel like you are walking through the pages of an interior design magazine.
