Sunday Style 11/ Wimbolt Street

It’s Sunday – yay! We’re strolling down Columbia Road Flower Market, adoring all the flowers that are blooming on this delightful weekend, and taking in the lovely sounds and smells. We love the hustle and bustle, but what we enjoy even more is seeking a peaceful moment popping into the local stores, finding treasures and meeting the lovely people that are behind the independent brands we admire so much. Just a stone’s throw away from here is the home we’ve chosen to look into for some style steals. Wimbolt Street is a charming home that sits in arguably the best location – minutes stroll away from urban life as well as an oasis of parks and an abundance of tranquility. Inside is an eclectic mix of colours, artworks and a variety of old and new furniture.

Along Columbia Road, the emporium of individual boutiques and homeware items are a blessing for alternatives to mass produced items. We care deeply about the life and soul of a home, and Wimbolt Street definitely delivers its own personality as well as those of the people that live within it. So let’s take a look…

The happy, upbeat colours in Wimbolt Street make it Summer all year long. It doesn’t need to be a dominating palette, but by adding decorative pieces in a complimenting tone, you can marry all of the elements together. This is exactly what this home shows off so well.

By adding framed pieces of art that you’ve saved up for, or that you/the little ones have created also brings joy to a room. Nelly Duff are a unique exhibition and gallery space close by, whom showcase worldwide talents through high quality hand-made art editions; supporting traditional craft and age-old techniques. We love their bricks and mortar space, so why not take something away and have that little inspiring reminder in your home!?

Geometric prints can compliment the feature coloured wall. The Basket Room brings artistic and expressive woven baskets to your home and we just love the variety! There’s one for everyone. They are durable and can be used in a versatile way. All of their Nifty Knits are woven out of the yarn from recycled jumpers, made from colourful woollen jumpers sourced from ‘gikombas’ (clothes markets).  You learn something new everyday…

We can imagine blissfully spending our evenings curling up with a hot cup of tea and a stack of style magazines. This space is made for that downtime.

Blending luxe and rustic finishes here works to create a dreamy, laid back living space which feels like home. Gentle to touch fabrics paired with sturdy carpentry pieces creates a comfortable balance. And here they are!
