After feeling what many people feel when part of the property process – detached and undervalued – Paul founded Mr and Mrs Clarke estate agency in 2015. You’ve probably seen his face around here quite a lot, but why not take a peek into the soon-to-be Youtube sensation’s favourites and firsts…
Strictly Business
Favourite type of property?
An unloved old country house that is just waiting to be done up. We’ve done three renovation projects so far and the thrill of transforming a space that others can’t “see” into a home is wonderful.
Your Mr and Mrs Clarke highlight so far?
Completing on our first £million+ property was a realisation that we could disrupt the industry. I get a thrill every time we list a new home and every time we complete for a client.
Where’s your favourite town/city?
My favourite town is La Clusaz, a ski resort about an hour from Geneva. Alex and I first went skiing there about ten years ago and we have been lots of times since. We went on our honeymoon, we’ve been with family and friends, then we took our daughter on her first ski trip, which was the most magical holiday ever because of seeing the delight in a three year olds face when she was stood at the top of a mountain. La Clusaz is not your typical ski resort, it is quaint and quiet. It feels very French because there is only a handful of hotels and the restaurants are amazing.
A little more personal…
Tea or Coffee?
I love a really good coffee, my favourite ever cup of coffee was a flat white from a van outside of Kings Cross station.
Early bird or night owl?
Early bird (we’ve got an 18 month little boy in the house!) I’m in bed by 9pm.
What 3 items would I always find in your fridge?
Gentlemans’ relish (if you haven’t tried it… you need to!), Lost Lager by Brewdog, Cheddar cheese.
What was your first job?
Golf caddy. I asked my dad to drop me off at Wentworth one Saturday morning when I was 13, I ended up carrying Sean Connery’s bag for years!
Last series you binge-watched?
Queen’s Gambit. Loved it.
Which website do you visit the most?
I’m a fan of Mr Porter – their Journal is light hearted and their wares are my guilty pleasure. The most visited though is probably NOW TV as I have a Sky Sports subscription through them and I could watch any sport at any time of the day.
