Wonderful Wimbledon

It’s not just the tennis fans that have all eyes on Wimbledon… From excellent restaurants to fabulous home interior stores and leafy green parks, Wimbledon has many admirers wanting to live there.

Wimbledon’s popularity comes down to the fact that it has incredibly good schools and superb commuter links into the city. Most schools are rated outstanding be it public or state schools, combined with really good outdoor lifestyle and sports facilities, with everything from golf and riding, to tennis and rugby. It’s always been a very popular suburb to live in for the discerning family.

Transport is super important so you can be in the office for 7am or the airport in under an hour – train services include the District line services from Wimbledon Park, while the Northern line can be accessed from South Wimbledon. Wimbledon station is served by South Western railway and Thameslink. There is also easy access around Wimbledon via car, as it borders the A3 which means you can get to your weekend bolt hole in the New Forest easily.

The property scene

Wimbledon is split between two main hubs – Wimbledon Village and the town. The former is built up from the medieval village where the High Street is today, while the latter emerged with the arrival of the railway in 1838, bringing Victorian commuters with it.

The prettiest, and most expensive, large Victorian homes are found in the village, with streets of Twenties and Thirties development down the hill towards Wimbledon Park and in West Wimbledon.
