The town is also served by bus routes to Newport and Brynmawr. By road, the A467 runs north to south connecting Abercarn to neighbouring towns and villages.

When it comes to local food and drink, the current owners of the property recommend a visit to the highly reputable Bistro 8 in nearby Blackwood.
