Around Elmhurst

Around Elmhurst

A simply stunning place to call home.

In Elmhurst, you’re not only investing in a unique opportunity, you’re also buying into a friendly country community in the small hamlet of Porthkerry. And, with more lovely pubs and restaurants than you can shake a stick at throughout the Vale, you’re never short of finding a cosy corner and good company.

Porthkerry itself has its own 13th century church, set around the village green, and the path to Porthkerry Country Park is just at the end of the green. In fact, there’s a wealth of both coastal and countryside walks right on your doorstep, along with historical sites and the Grade II listed Romilly Park. Explore the rugged trails of the Glamorgan Heritage Coastal Path, and enjoy the golden sands of Whitmore and Jackson’s Bay.

A peaceful oasis but within reach of urban hubs. The semi-rural dream

Just a stone’s throw away from vibrant Barry, whether you’re in the mood for a rooftop cocktail at Academy 297, or a low-key supper, you’ll find it all here. Box Edit Boutique, Forbesfield floral design studio, and Annie & Lolo are some of our favourite independent stores. Be sure to stop off at Cocoa Therapy for the best hot chocolate in town!

There’s a good choice of primary and secondary schools in the local area, including Rhoose Primary School, Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg, and Stanwell School. Large supermarkets and small independents are all within easy reach and Cardiff, is a mere 30 minutes away, either by car or the local train station in Rhoose. There’s also a local bus service and  Cardiff airport is only a short drive away for all your jet settings needs.

For quality food and real ale, try one of the oldest pubs in Wales – the Blue Anchor Inn, dating back to 1380. Or the family-run Craft Republic for independent craft beer and wine. You might even be lucky enough to spot bar dog, Darcy!
