Breedon on the Hill

Breedon on the Hill

Well connected

Breedon on the Hill is a small Leicestershire village, which is strong on community. There are plenty of country walks on tap and the vibrant market town of Ashby-de-la-Zouch is only 5 miles away, with a plethora of well-known high street names, independent shops and supermarkets. The quaint and historic market town of Melbourne is just 3 miles away.

The village is ideally located for commuters with East Midlands Airport, the M1 motorway and East Midlands Parkway railway station (direct to London) all within 15 minutes’ journey time. The larger cities of Derby, Nottingham, Leicester and Birmingham are all a short distance away.

Local life

The village is home to the St Hardulph’s C of E Primary School, which has a good reputation for early years education. And a little further afield, Ashby has a number of well-regarded schools, which cater for older children.

Try the Bay Tree Restaurant in Melbourne for fine dining, and the Three Horseshoes in Breedon for Sunday lunch with all the trimmings. In Repton, the Bulls Head and the Boot Inn are well worth a stop.

There are some great days out to be had with National Trust’s Calke Abbey nearby, along with Melbourne Hall, Donington Park race circuit, Foremark Reservoir, Twycross Zoo, Breedon Priory Health Club and Staunton Harold Hall and Reservoir all easily accessible. There’s also an excellent choice of country parks to walk off that Sunday roast!
