Shrewley

Shrewley

Warwickshire countryside at it's prettiest

Shrewley is one of those perfect little villages where you feel serenely isolated in the middle of gorgeous countryside, but you are in fact better connected than most places in the UK. You can be in Warwick or Solihull within a few minutes or you can be zipping into London from Warwick Parkway. For international jet setters, you are 22 minutes from Birmingham Airport where you can whizz to Geneva or sunnier climates. For the drivers, the M40, M5 and M1 are close by, which opens up the country nicely for work or getting around.

Mr Clarke loves the fact that there are two pubs within walking distance and many others within a ten minute drive. “The Case is the best spot for a quiet pint and a chat with pals. The Ox is ideal for a family Sunday lunch. It’s great to have two pubs so close to your doorstop.”

A pub, lots of country walks, the friendliest community and a village shop that serves delicious samosas... what more do you need?

There are several National Trust properties close by; Baddelsey Clinton and Packwood House. Mrs Clarke loves the kitchen garden at Packwood and the cafe at Baddelsey. Wroxall Abbey is the 12th Century country seat of Sir Christopher Wren, which is now a luxury hotel. The Abbey provides the perfect backdrop for walks around Hay Wood.

There is a great choice of schools, from highly regarded local primaries in Lapworth and Ferncumbe to top class independent schools in Warwick, Solihull and Leamington.

We caught up with one of the Range Rover, Barbour wearing local yummy mummies to hear why she loves Shrewley. “I can drop the kids off at school in Warwick then head to The Ardencote, which is the best gym I’ve ever been a member of. The village shop has all the day to day necessities we need in between the Ocado shop. At weekends we adore The Orange Tree in Chadwick End or having everyone around at ours for supper.”
