The Beeches, Newport
Foodie heaven
The Handpost Hotel, originally built in the 1800s, and The Ridgeway, with its modern gastropub vibe, are firm favourites for food and drink, and there’s a huge variety of excellent cafes and coffee shops close by. Recent Masterchef Finalist, Francesca Keirle, has also chosen to open a new bar and bistro, Geshmak (meaning yummy in Yiddish) in the city centre. In the last few years, Newport was ranked the 3rd best place to live in the UK, according to a study by Adzuna, and it’s easy to see why.
Well connected
A leisurely stroll from The Beeches takes you to the centre of Newport, with its bustling cafes, station, and both independent and national retailers, in less than 20 minutes. Newport itself is renowned for its connectivity (and arguably the best transport links of anywhere in Wales) with excellent access to the main road and rail networks. With its superb links to the M4 East and West, you can be in Cardiff in just 20 minutes, whether by train or car, whilst a direct train line whisks you to London Paddington in a little over 90 minutes. Just five minutes’ drive away you’ll find Tesco with extended opening hours, alongside some long-established big brand retailers. And, for the gym enthusiast, there’s one within a mere five minutes’ walk, alongside a physiotherapist, should you need one! There is a good selection of nurseries and primary schools nearby and some outstanding secondary schools in the local area.
