A quiet part of Islington
Westbourne Road is nestled neatly to the north east of Upper Street, moments from the gorgeous garden squares of Barnsbury and a short stroll to Highbury. You are in a quiet spot amongst beautiful townhouses and public gardens and within easy reach of a wide range of transport links (it’s only a £10 Uber to The West End!). This is a gem of a spot in North London and we love it.
Let’s start with the most important things – where to eat and drink. Mrs Clarke is obsessed with Sunday… not the day of rest, but the stunning little neighbourhood restaurant at the end of Westbourne Road. A mix of Mediterranean delights and coffee shop treats is worth a daily visit. Mr Clarke is more a Drapers Arms kind of chap. Although one of the top pubs in the land you can always be guaranteed a warm welcome and a great pint.
The great thing about Westbourne Road is that it has a local vibe – people say “hello” to each other, the guys in the dry cleaners remember your name, Yummy Mummies smile when they walk the kids to school and the suit wearers mix with the brickies. This is old school London with a modern feel.
