Mr Clarke thinks :
The living spaces and atrium are jaw dropping pieces of interior design.

In the idyllic village of Ketton, you find this perfectly proportioned three bedroom masterpiece. This home is full of modern surprises whilst retaining lots of lovely character. There is an effortless flow throughout the home and the mix of stylish design and practical consideration will please any discerning home hunter. The focal point is the architecture, but to be honest, everything is delightful. It’s the perfect blend of a modern conversion of a 120+ year old property. The amount of living space is generous and it’s focused around the central cooking, eating and socialising areas.

As you look around you appreciate the way the home has retained charming industrial features but has been re-modelled to cope with the rigours of modern life. There are lots of original features from the building when it was still a maltings, for example the flooring on the middle level hasn’t been replaced. The walls are adorned with Farrow and Ball paint (Strong White, Pavilion Grey and Hague Blue to be precise), there are luxurious touches everywhere you look. Every corner and detail has been lovingly worked. Complimenting the craftsmanship are high end appliances, all of which make this place feel like the pages of Pinterest - we love it.

The living room is kitted out with blinds so you can pull them to when you’re having a cosy movie night, and open them back up in the morning after you’ve visited your very own personal coffee cabinet. In the late afternoon adults seem to gravitate towards the wine cooler whilst the little ones enjoy leaning on the porcelain to finish their homework. The bar is fabulous for sitting at to chat with whoever is in the kitchen, without feeling like you’re in the way.

Mrs Clarke loves :
The clever use of space, beautiful design and great craftsmanship.

Climb the staircase to find the sleeping chambers. We love the large master bedroom and we long to spend our time lounging there on weekend mornings. There is so much personality, as well as interesting features including beams and poles which adorn the home. The top floor is in the eves so it feels rather secret. Paired with super high ceilings and brick walls it’s a very special space.

The moment you are inside the space you get a sense of warmth. When you are standing on the Minton tiled entrance porch you appreciate the wonderful mix of original features and modern vibes created by the stylish renovations and cleverly conceived alterations. The space is utilised to the max, and there’s a useful study so you can work from home whilst being around the family with ease.

Outside is equally as magnificent. This magical place is perfect for a family who loves the outdoors, loves to learn and create memories. There’s so much to explore and the shared garden allows for picnics, games of Twister and an impromptu gathering of friends and family. This semi-private garden requires minimal care by you and is pretty much always free whenever you want to use it and enjoy the lush green surroundings.

Summary :

  • Design Features :  The Maltings won the George Philips Award for architecture in 2003 when first converted.
  • Three words :  Old. Meets. New.

Our favourite part
The building itself and surroundings are just as impressive as inside the home.

Ketton

Quiet idyll of rural bliss

We love walking around the pretty postcard village of Ketton; people are welcoming to new faces and you feel like you’re wrapped in bubblewrap because it’s safe. It’s an active and vibrant place all year around. During summer weekends there are always events planned by either the local pubs or held at the Ketton sports and community centre. Adults and children are so happy here. Ofsted pronounced Ketton primary school as Outstanding earlier this year, so you are blessed for schooling here. There’s a lovely park with a great playground, with a fenced off area for the smallest kids.

Whether you’re into yoga, tennis, or just strolling we can recommend some kind of physical activity here. Public footpaths in the countryside around cross through the village, and you can adventure to the quarry where you can explore lovely surroundings.

On a Sunday you can pop to The Collyweston village shop to grab some butcheries produce, decent wine and really fresh fruit…you’ll be in here for a while swooning over the farmers delights. Monday evenings the Morton Fish & Chip van stops in two locations in the village, so everyone looks forward to the start of the week.

If you’re a commuter then you’ll be pleased to hear that a reliable bus service between Stamford and Uppingham passes through the village. Stamford train station is a 10 minute drive away so you can get to Peterborough in no time, and then London in 45 minutes.

...and friendly vibes!

  • Closest village/town: This is the perfect village life, however you are super close to Stamford (less than 3 miles).
  • Stores: Fabulous village shop and post office on the high street. They sell the amazing Kings Cliffe bakery bread (although you might have to pre-book to not miss out!) and have a small deli counter with cheese, fresh sausages, ham etc.
  • Pubs: The Railway Inn pub on Church street is a fabulous, friendly and welcoming local (no food) with a lovely garden. They also run a beer delivery system. The Northwick Arms is a pub with a restaurant area further down in the village.
