Walk through the door at 73 Eden Road and you discover how a house should look.

Mr Clarke

An architect designed home is a dream for most of us. Owning a home that has been thoughtfully designed and efficiently built would be incredible. We all watch Grand Designs and sit with our jaw on the floor when the architect cleverly spins a space and turns even the smallest corner into something special. Well… 73 Eden Road in Solihull has had that very treatment. The current owner is one of those talented guys who has been able to make this three bedroom semi detached house into a stunning home.

It’s not just the addition of a WC under the stairs, the concealment of the boiler behind the bathroom mirror or the perfect placement of the sockets and light switches that makes this house seem so spacious. It’s the beautiful grey wood flooring, plush carpet upstairs, designer bathroom and the open plan kitchen diner that makes 73 Eden Road so wonderful.

Let’s go through this house step by step.
From the front you see that there is a lawned, hedged and bordered front garden. There is a driveway for two cars, a grey wood fence with a side gate that leads into the back garden. You will notice that the windows are all double glazed, that there are high end outdoor lights and a perfectly painted front door. This place will certainly wow your guests when they pull up for the house warming.

Through the front door and you instantly feel at home. The calming colour scheme and immaculate decoration makes you forget about all the mess at work. The hall leads to the kitchen at the back; and what a kitchen. The first thing you notice is the lightness that is created by the French doors, the large window to the left and the window above the sink. The large window has a brilliant shelving system built in, which creates storage as well as letting light in. The kitchen diner has space for a circular table that can seat six. The kitchen itself is worthy of a trendy London chef. Chic white units that have been well thought through to offer lots of storage. My favourite cupboard (if you can have such a thing) is the corner cupboard; its revolving storage system is neat and can hold all those spices. But the best is yet to come. The ovens are self cleaning. You heard me, a self cleaning oven. The brilliant pyrolytic system means you will never have to have a dirty oven again! Brilliant. There are gas hobs and a sleek extractor hood.

Back down the hall and turn left you find yourself in the sitting room. A large, formal space with an exposed brick, open fire place. The large bay window lets in lots of light but with five individual roller blinds you can screen off the world and put your feet up in your own fancy house. It may seem like a small thing but the TV sockets and plug sockets have been well thought through. This means there won’t be wires all over the place, which means you can live in clutter free heaven.

Under the stairs there are two doors. The first is a touch open door that opens to show you where the tumble dryer lives along with the vacuum cleaner and spare light bulbs. The other door opens to unveil the WC. It’s perfectly proportioned, with a neat sink and small window. Not many other houses on this street have a downstairs loo.

Slip off your shoes so you can appreciate the softness of the carpet and head upstairs. There are two big bedrooms and a small room and a bathroom up here. The largest bedroom has a big bay window and plenty of space for wardrobes. There is carpet under foot and the walls are a calming shade of white. The second bedroom is similarly decorated and sized. Because the house is on the top of the hill you are treated to some gorgeous green views from here.
The third bedroom is currently used as a dressing room, which makes a great space for a couple. This room would fit a single bed or a nursery in. It could also be used as a home office.

The bathroom has a big tub with a luxury ceiling mounted shower head. There is a floating vanity cupboard and a sink. The floor to ceiling towel radiator will keep the dressing gown nice and toastie
      on a winter’s morning.

The garden is like an outdoor room because it is so stylish. There is wooden decking at the back and to the side of the house, which is home to the outdoor dining table. It’s apparently a sun trap, so perfect for BBQs and a glass of wine. There is a fifteen metre manicured lawn with herbaceous borders. The shed at the bottom of the garden is more like a posh potting shed. This green paradise is wonderful considering you are in an urban environment.
