Beautifully curated throughout, the décor and attention to detail really sets it apart. This home is a real sanctuary and immediately envelops you with a sense of calm. There’s a relaxed and unpretentious vibe to the sublime interior, clearly designed with love and expertise. We simply adore the log burner in the front reception room. Kick off your shoes and relax here in front of the roaring fire. The double glazed sash windows, with bespoke window coverings, look out onto the front garden, with its beautiful climbing roses and hydrangeas. It’s pretty as a picture and a wonderful vista to take in whilst relaxing. This room transcends the seasons; cool in summer, but warm and cosy in winter. There’s natural sisal flooring underfoot and original doors. Farrow and Ball’s ‘Oval Room Blue’, named after the attractively-shaped rooms of the late 18th century, graces the walls.

The dining kitchen features an original, quarry tile floor, and wooden wall panelling. A gorgeous William Morris print adorns the window dressing, and the solid wood, freestanding kitchen cabinets are bespoke, painted in Farrow & Ball’s stunning ‘Hague Blue’. There’s a lovely Belfast sink, and a useful pantry with open shelving, for all your provisions. Make memories here, with good company, conversation, and food. The family bathroom is lovely and bright, and the focal point is a beautiful, large recessed mirror, which really makes a statement. The Velux window over the bath floods this space with natural light by day, and offers bathers - enjoying a leisurely soak - a wonderful opportunity to gaze at the stars by night.

Upstairs, there are two large double bedrooms. The master bedroom is light and airy, with far-reaching views of parkland. It’s the perfect spot for a lazy start to the weekend. All you need are coffee and the papers. The beautiful cast iron fireplace exudes character, along with the exposed wooden floor. And the alcoves provide plenty of space for wardrobes and other loved items of furniture. Farrow and Ball's ‘Tessella’ wallpaper takes pride of place on the feature wall. Meanwhile the second bedroom, with its rear garden views, is a charming space and features the iconic Laura Ashley ‘Toile de Jouy’ print on the walls and window dressings. Again, there’s storage in abundance in the alcoves with built-in shelving. A painted brick fireplace adds additional character. Throw open the window and enjoy the birdsong for an uplifting start to your day.

Outside, the covered external courtyard area to the rear is genius. This deck area really has been designed with 365-day outdoor living in mind. Curl up with a good book here in wet weather, switch your phone to silent, and listen to the raindrops fall. It’s also just the place for storing muddy wellies. Which is rather handy as Sheldon Country Park is just across the road, with its 300 acres of parkland and farm. Perfect for a Sunday stroll with friends and family, especially the four-legged variety!

The front and rear gardens are mature and well stocked with an array of plants and wild flowers, and we love the designated spaces in the latter. This gives each of these ‘outside rooms’ a distinct purpose. Nearest the house is the lawn and path, which runs through the middle of the established borders. The path leads up to the patio area with its large seating area; the ideal spot for al fresco dining and sense of privacy. On from the patio, a gate leads to a natural area, which, in spring, is reminiscent of a meadow and peppered with wild flowers. It’s a real oasis. There are four fruit trees and you can swing the day away on a hammock. The final space has a raised vegetable bed, and you’ll find the impressive log store and current owners’ workshop here too.
