There is an amazing opportunity to develop the garage into a guest house and the small garage into my office. This is very exciting.

Nestled in the heart of the pretty village of Salford, Willow Tree Cottage has been meticulously and lovingly renovated into a modern Cotswolds home.

The village is gorgeous, it's close to Daylesford & Soho House, the interior is stylish and the gardens are divine. Mr Clarke... get your cheque book out!

This wonderful detached property has four bedrooms, open plan kitchen dining room, cosy living room, two beautifully landscaped gardens and two garages that are ripe for conversion into an annexe and home office - this is village life at its best. The home sits within a small cluster of honey-hued properties next to a historic church and manor buildings. This wonderful corner of the Cotswolds, in colder months has a character all of its own. Sun peeking through bare branches, the glisten of frost and the gentle smell of smoke coming from the stone chimney pots, is evocative. Salford is the quintessential village with a charming and vibrant community. You are moments from Daylesford and Kingham, a short drive to Chipping Camden and Moreton-in-Marsh and within easy reach of London via train or road.

The property has been carefully renovated and re-modelled over the last two years - the result is a spacious home that has an effortless flow between rooms and the gardens. The downstairs has a large kitchen with breakfast island, dining table, window seat and lots of work surfaces. Off the kitchen, the utility room, pantry and cloak room bring a practical edge to the stylish interior. The other side of the downstairs is dedicated to a wonderfully cosy living room that is centred around an inglenook fireplace and the modern log burner within. The French doors in this room lead out to an outside seating area and they frame the lawn beyond.

The two upper levels are split into four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The main bedroom is like a boutique hotel suite and has windows at both ends that look out to gardens. The family bathroom has undergone a stylish revamp and has a freestanding bathtub, large walk-in shower, wood panelling painted in a Cotswolds green and lots of space to relax after a hard day gardening. The second bedroom is a large double with great storage. The top floor is set up as an office room and a guest room with en-suite bathroom.

The gardens have brought a squeal of delight to the members of our team who have visited Willow Tree Cottage. The first garden is at the back of the cottage and is an extension of the living spaces - you can wander in and out through the stable door in the utility room in muddy boots or walk out of the French doors in the living room with a glass of wine at the end of the day and relax under the festoon light covered patio. The lawn is perfect for dogs, kids and pottering in the cottage style beds. But it is when you walk up the stone steps, through the arch and into the walled garden that the magic really begins. This is a garden from the pages of Country Living magazine and it must be experienced to appreciate its beauty. There are two seating areas in the far corners, a greenhouse that spans the rear of the garden, beds packed with alpines, cottage plants, herbs and trees. Then there is a garage and a store room that is perfect as a store and workshop - or it could be the most amazing annexe - all you need is a good architect and a vision.

The fun doesn't stop there. At the front of the cottage there is a small attached garage that is currently used as a store. We think this would make the most wonderful home office and as you have to walk outside to get into the space, it would be the perfect commute when working from home.

The grass is definitely greener

We’ve all dreamed of jumping in the car on a Friday night (Range Rover with kids in the back glued to Ipads if you are 35+, or a Porsche with the roof down if you are -35 or 60+) and zooming up the motorway for a weekend in the Cotswolds. Leaving at the motorway junction and tearing off the corporate uniform, zipping over humpback hills, through honey-hued villages and down leafy rural lanes. The thought of the black lab jumping out of the boot, the Barbour jacket being pulled on and slipping into a muddy pair of Le Chameau Wellington Boots – the Cotswolds more than earns its place as Britain’s most desired place to spend the weekend.

Weekend! Sod that! I want to live there… who needs to be in London anyway? The broadband here is fast, your can have client meetings at Soho Farmhouse and you can shop at Daylesford instead of slumming it in Waitrose. The grass is most definitely greener in the Cotswolds and we cannot think of a place we would rather live.

Salford is a quintessentially gorgeous Cotswolds village on the North Oxfordshire border. It forms part of the most exclusive selection of villages in the area – Kingham & Churchill are your neighbours, Moreton & Chipping Norton are a short drive away, but more importantly Daylesford is only a couple of fields away and Soho Farmhouse is close enough to be able to call it your second home.

Hang on a moment though! I know what you are thinking… “I’m not Jude Law or Cameron Diaz and this ain’t a movie. I need to work and the office is still in London.” Fear not you can hop on the train at Kingham or Moreton (London/Paddington in 90 minutes) or Banbury (London/Marylebone from 55 minutes). Or hop in the car at the M40 junction 14 miles away. Problem solved.

Idyllic & postcard pretty

  • Closest village/town: Kingham
  • Stores: Daylesford is more than a farm shop - it's life!
  • Supermarket: We love popping into Moreton and going to the Co-op, or into Chipping Norton. But then again we get everyting delivered!
  • Pubs: Our favourite is the Fox in Lower Oddington. Although we also love The Red Lion at Long Compton, The Hook Hotel and of course The White Rabbit in Kingham.
  • Walks: Endless countryside walks with the dog from your doorstep
