Mr Clarke thinks :
Can a house surprise you? This home certainly does.
This sophisticated and stylish home boasts cool, sociable living areas as well as more intimate rooms. There’s a calm ambience which runs throughout. The earthy tones, white wash floorboards and quality finishes make this home look like something straight out of an interior design magazine. The location is so close to town, the train station and M4, and also green spaces such as St Julians and Beechwood. Welcome home.
An open-plan dining area and living room is perfect for the whole family to be together to catch up on the days events, and this one is beautifully decorated. It’s a wonderful blank canvas, and features crisp, white lines (bar the gorgeous fire place). This is such a cosy room whether you’re plucking a book from the built in shelves or watching Netflix. It’s big enough to pop a large table underneath the central feature lampshade.
Head through to the kitchen where you have ample cupboard space, and room for appliances. The dark timber worktops add warmth to thisroom…though we’re sure the smell of freshly baked bread wouldn’t go amiss. The neutral palette downstairs creates a calming atmosphere. The bathroom is on this floor too, and if pampering is your thing then you’ll be pleased to know you have underfloor heating, so it’s the perfect sanctuary after a long day. The long and wide entrance hall on this floor and upstairs is bright, and can host a drying rack, some storage boxes as well as plenty of artwork.
Mrs Clarke loves :
The simplicity and calmness of the space so I can put my own stamp on it.
You’ll be the hostess with mostess when dining al fresco - friends will love having a barbecue on the rear patio, playing games on the astro turf and then having a night cap on the decking nearest to the home. The garden is bathed in afternoon sun and so it’s perfect for post Saturday night brunch. There’s a shed too for storing tools.
We love all three freshly painted bedrooms. They ooze luxury, and all have their own personality so there’s sure to be one to suit everyone. We’ll break it down for you though: the front bedroom is the biggest and has built in wardrobes, the middle bedroom is sunny all day long, and the rear bedroom has lovely sunset views towards town.
- Three words : Safe. Space. Style.
Our favourite part
The fireplace, the floorboards, the fixtures & fittings! Everything.
A collection of greenery and arts
The Maindee area of Newport is a culturally rich neighbourhood not far from the city centre. It has a vibrant arts scene, culminating in the Maindee festival held every July that brings together diversity through dance and performance arts. Beechwood Park, from the Victorian era, is right on your doorstep so it’s perfect for evening mindfulness strolls, or family picnics on the lazy weekend. If you love playing golf, being pampered or exquisite dining (or all of the above!) then you’ll be delighted to know that the 5 star Celtic Manor is not but a five minute drive away up Christchurch Road.
When you snap up your new home your first port of call should be Palfrey’s, where the Beef Wellington prepared by butcher Mark should become a weekly staple. If you like Middle Eastern cuisine then Valentine’s and Sen BBQ fight it for supremacy in our house.
Kitting out your new pad is also easy if you love the current trend in up-cycled furniture, the Umbrella Project has loads of pieces ready painted in Annie Sloan’s Paris Grey. This unique homeware shop is so different you just want to soak up every last drop of the eclectic style that’s in every corner. Pretty much next door is what is fast becoming an icon - especially if you have a sweet tooth - Beth Bakes. The most delicious cakes and sweet things...bring a rucksack.
The area is served by some cracking primary schools one of which is Welsh language and St Julians Comprehensive is not too far away either.
There’s plenty of great transport links throughout the city and head down Chepstow Road and you can be on the M4 within a few minutes or head northeast from there and the countryside awaits at Wentwood Forest.
