Mr Clarke thinks :
A room for every mood makes this haven a heaven to reside in.

This home, in the award-winning Fairfield Park, just north of Hitchin, is the epitome of the luxury family nest, with all the joy of multi-functional spaces for modern living. More than that though, this home deserves to play host to life’s every occasion, celebrating moments around the dining table and welcoming friends with tantalising tipples over the kitchen island. Espresso Martini, anyone?

Built in 2007, the frontage is the stuff of childhood sketch dreams. Double-fronted with four stone bay windows, it is picture perfect from the moment you drive up; the front aspect an homage to classic family living.  A five bedroom, detached home, Faraday Gardens is set in a beautifully landscaped area, and, for a build this side of the 21st Century, the custodians of Fairfield Park have worked cleverly to establish a thriving, family-oriented community for the modern day commuter with a family.

The central split staircase in the hallway is giving us modern day The Sound of Music vibes we never knew we needed... until now. The hallway, with its central square set position, is the start of this home journey. Open and bright it offers a welcoming entry, with doors shooting off in all directions. The beauty of this home is how the natural light follows you and flows wherever you go. From the living room to the exceptionally welcoming kitchen space and through to the orangery, light fills this home.

A large study for ultimate work from home days, a sitting room for relaxed and intimate evenings and self-declared ‘boys room’ by the owners, the ground floor space offers a room for every mood and does so with style. Karndean flooring throughout the ground floor creates a seamless feel.

Now, let’s talk about the kitchen, which links fluidly to the orangery. The owners have updated the space with new tiling and a fresh colour palette to suit. It is a room to entertain with pride. For friends to pull up a barstool and put the world to rights under statement lighting suspended from the ceiling above. Integrated appliances from AEG and Neff, five-ring hob burner, a waste disposal unit, water softener and Quooker hot water tap complete the contemporary kitchen line-up. The orangery space has been designed with remote operated lantern windows and French doors into the garden space.

The sitting room is that enticing retreat at the end of the evening, made ‘Instagram-worthy’ by the flourishing of a Farrow & Ball brush across the panelled walls in a dark green shade, the spotlight being on the Gazco log burner that invites you in and wills you to stay long into the evening.

Mrs Clarke loves :
The orangery adds that extra something special to the family kitchen and maximises the natural light we all love.

Head upstairs to be amazed by the gallery landing, cleverly utilising floor space to create more storage. The main bedroom is large but doesn’t lose its sense of intimacy, with inky blue panelled walls creating a moody and personal attitude. A large en-suite with separate shower and bath is befitting of the main bedroom space. Four further bedrooms, two of which have en-suites (one utilises the main bathroom, which has a Jack and Jill style door set up) are all bold in size and comforting in equal measure.

If you thought it ended there, don’t be so hasty. One further bedroom resides in the annex, with it’s own studio kitchen space. The perfect set up for an independent family member, or, as is the current situ, a listing on AirBnB. The annex could further be transformed into an immersive and private work from home space. Designed in a neutral grey palette, ready for a stamp of individuality.

The garden plays with the design of circle pod areas to utilise the space to its best. Making the most of every inch of sun in this south facing spot, the beautifully tended garden is a joy to look out on from the orangery or kick back in the sunshine or even light the outdoor firepit on a cold evening. Wooden decking extends from the house with external lighting to guide the way. Completely private, the garden backs onto a bridle path. Keep your ears and eyes open for the local wildlife on your doorstep. It is magic to hear.

Faraday Gardens puts space at top-billing on this incredible cast list of modern home amenities. Having said that, permission has also been granted for a full loft conversion, should you desire. Even with all this space, Faraday Gardens has the potential for more.

Fairfield Park

Friendly vibes

Fairfield Park, Stotfold, is flanked on all sides by larger towns such as Arelsey, Letchworth and market town, Hitchin. Fairfield Park itself is home to a lower school, community hall and bowls club, with much more on offer. Not to mention the hundreds of acres of parkland just waiting to be explored. Hop on a bike or lace up those trainers and take to the trails on offer in and around Hertfordshire. With blue and green lagoons, green communal areas, there is nature aplenty to enjoy. Did you know, Fairfield Park is also the home to ancient apple orchards?!

There is Fairfield lower school on the park which has been rated as outstanding along with many nearby middle and upper schools of Etonbury Academy and the renowned Samuel Whitbread Community College.

There is a Tesco's convenience store, Bannatyne's Gym and new Spa, dry cleaners and Eden hair salon along with Fairfield Park Cricket & Bowls Club. There are many secure play parks for children along with speed restricted roads for family safety. Our favourite part about living here is the street food pop ups.

With easy access to the A1 and M1 you are never far away from the bigger towns and cities such as Cambridge or London (The fast train to London is 28 minutes from Letchworth, or 22 minutes from Stevenage). London Stansted circa 40mins drive, London Luton Airport circa 20mins drive

Hitchin is the market town you want to hit up. Centered around the market place, it is alive with the thrum of independent businesses. Salon Bon Bon, Chia Naturally Healthy, Hermitage Road bar, The Fox at Willian, and The Farmhouse at Redcoats are just a few top spots to try out in the town.
