Mike thinks:
The interior design and finish are immaculate, it's ready to move in to and make a home.

Set in the west Newport suburb of Bassaleg, this spacious three-bedroom, three-storey family home has been finished to an exacting standard. Residing within a quiet residential cul-de-sac, the property blends contemporary features with impressive amounts of flexible living space.

Mike loves:
The garden is amazing! There are so many sociable spaces for entertaining or relaxing with a morning coffee.

Upon arrival, you will find the house is generously set back from the road behind a block paved driveway with steps that lead to the side entrance. The welcoming hallway greets you with half-panelled walls and a soft neutral colour palette.

First off the entrance hall is the large kitchen dining room, twin sets of double doors invite a wonderful quality of natural light and frame views of the garden beyond. Smart off-white gloss cabinetry run along two sides, beautifully contrasted with dark worktops and trims. While a large, split level kitchen island delineates the space and houses the induction hob with space for countertop seating underneath, making for an open, sociable layout.

The main living space is a handsomely proportioned room and occupies the remainder of this level. The room is centred around a feature media wall with ample space for a 50” TV and soundbar. Morning sun floods the front of the house straight through the sliding doors that lead out to the balcony; perfect to slide open in the summer months. The balcony overlooks Ffos-Y-Fran and the surrounding countryside views. It has space for potted plants or could fit a small table and chairs to enjoy a morning coffee.

Moving to the lower level of the house and we find an additional reception room, which would work equally well as a fourth bedroom, play area for the children, or adult hideaway! It offers excellent flexibility of use; large, glazed doors invite liberal amounts of natural light and provide the room with its own access to the front of the property.

Heading to the top floor, three further bedrooms await. The principal bedroom is decorated in shades of Farrow & Ball and looks like a plush hotel suite. Panelling behind the bed adds a touch of luxury and character while floor-to-ceiling wardrobes ensure you’ll never be lacking storage space. The second bedroom faces the front of the house and also has built-in storage. The third bedroom is currently configured as a large single but could equally accommodate a double and has views over the garden.

The bathroom, recently refitted in a luxurious matt porcelain tile, lies at one end of the landing. Soft inset lighting and a Bluetooth mirror ensure the perfect environment for a long relaxing evening soak, while a powerful waterfall shower will be sure to wake you up in the morning.

The secluded rear garden unfolds from the kitchen/dining room and is the perfect spot for alfresco dining. A patio area leads to a central lawn, ideal for kicking a ball or jumping on a trampoline. Mature shrubs create structure to the borders, and beds of flowering perennials add colour throughout the seasons.

Beyond this is the upper level, surrounded by greenery and nicely shaded by mature trees making it feel wonderfully rural. The garden has handy side access to the driveway as well.

Close to the city

This great little village on the outskirts of Newport is the perfect mix of countryside and accessibility. There is a friendly community and lots going on for the whole family.

Sitting pretty on the edge of Newport, and not to far from Machen you can nipping into Morrisons in Rogerstone in minutes or enjoying a pint at The Rhiwderin Inn. Phil, Angelina have just taken over the pub in December and their vision is to keep everything that ‘The Inn’ is loved for, namely good homemade food, a warm welcome and a cosy local. We salute you guys.

We love the village of Rudry and love strolling around the leafy lanes. If we need fresh air then we head to Bassaleg for a dog walk and soak up the rolling countryside. Stop off at the stylish restaurant Junction 28 in a former railway station with a Modern British menu, plus Welsh cheeses. Heaven!

Bassaleg school is one of the best in the area and Pentrepoeth Primary is 5 star too.
