Mr Clarke thinks :
Everyone will love this property for its vibrant location yet calming atmosphere once inside.
It’s not often you find quintessential London living with a cool European aesthetic, but this Lion Apartment on the North Road, has achieved just that, with its thoughtful design and cool, crisp interior palette.
This two bedroom, spacious flat celebrates clarity in its layout, functionality and overall style. The building, steeped in history (just look at those windows) has been carefully renovated, with a considered, design-led approach.
The entrance hallway in the communal area has been recently refurbished, the building itself a magnet for creatives who reside in further apartments. Flat 1 on the top floor, set within this converted former inn has the paired back, nonchalant style of a Parisian apartment combined with the coolness of London as a city.
Mrs Clarke loves :
The confident simplicity of the space, letting the architecture do the talking. Who wouldn’t when the treasure is this restored Victorian Inn?!
The beauty of this apartment is its natural appeal, any showmanship coming only from the architectural lines and enviable views. The main living space is wondrous with high ceilings, exposed beams and partial brick on display, otherwise beautifully plastered and painted in a soft neutral tone that draws all attention to the fantastic arched sash windows.
The living area occupies a good portion of the 850 sq ft overall and with good reason; its sunny and sophisticated disposition welcoming in the light from all directions.
Engineered flooring runs throughout keeping this apartment on track in it’s contemporary narrative. The chic kitchen offers space for concocting dinners and that morning cafetiere routine. When cooking is not on the cards, the kitchen can simply house delicious cuisines from local establishments. The exposed Edison bulb light fixtures accent the industrial space perfectly here.
The main bedroom has a south facing balcony - how glorious. Bright, airy and oh-so-relaxing, this is a sanctuary. Sparing use of furniture accents the natural elegance of this apartment. Fear not though as loft storage is available through the utility cupboard access.
Moving into the second bedroom, inky tones of blue shift apartment gears, creating cool work spaces and a moody contrast to the crisp palette elsewhere. It could be another bedroom or office space, either options feels comfortable and inspiring here. A new bathroom offers a dose of luxury for daily ablutions with underfloor heating for those chilly mornings.
- Design Features : High ceilings and exposed beams and bricks are the stars of the show.
- Three words : Cool. Stylish. Height.
Our favourite part
The windows; breathing life into apartment living.
For feelings of space and serenity, this flat on the North Road does not fall short. Its oasis is a welcomed rest from the busy, vibrant North London setting. N7 is currently the focus of a large-scale redevelopment, so be prepared for much more transformation and regeneration in the area. It's a great place to invest and call home. From the rows of gorgeous terraced houses to the individual shop fronts; there's something to see at every turn.
Converted warehouses and vernacular new build developments sit along side classic period properties. The Architects playground of the 1960's and 70's Camden and Murray Mews is nearby. If your anything like me and enjoy wandering around London and exploring, the layer and layers of history around here will definitely keep you busy.
Caledonian Park acts as a bridge between the rejuvenated Kings Cross and the more established areas of north London - Camden, Kentish Town and beyond. Camden and Regents Park are super close for weekend bike rides and the historical Metropolitan Cattle market pubs are worth an investigate. Alongside parks and a solid café culture, the largest indoor tennis courts are only one road away.
Not to mention the endless foodie options are on your doorstep. Bread by Bike and Dishoom are but an app click away on a rainy day. Vegabond and Dusty Knuckle Green Lanes bakery are a brunch must.
