Top of the town


Sitting and having a delicious cup of coffee watching the sunrise from Christchurch Viewpoint, I think to myself “life doesn’t get much better than this”. I’ve been for a run, I’ve got a game of golf booked at Celtic later and dinner is booked at Greyhound Inn this evening. Everything is OK.

Christchurch village has a life enhancing vibe about it – everyone is friendly, the views are incredible, you are close to to town but can be in the deep countryside in moments. This is the best of both worlds and we love living here. The schools are sought after, we can be zipping around for work on the M4 easily or jumping on a train within minutes. I challenge anyone to tell me that there is a better place to live…

Christchurch (or as my very local friends call it, Eglwys y Drindod) is a village located at the top of Christchurch Hill in Caerleon community. The top of the hill gifts us panoramic views both towards the Bristol Channel in the south and through the Vale of Usk and into the Monmouthshire countryside to the north. The road, which runs along the crest of the hill, runs westwards to Newport and eastwards towards Caerleon and Catsash.

Oliver Cromwell once stood up here and planned his attack on Newport Castle. You will now find well heeled locals sipping a flat white at Wilson+Bay and talking about the property prices.
