This four storey house is like something you see in a designer magazine. There is a basement conversion, open plan living, glass roof, free standing bath, pantry, open fire places, big bedrooms and even an outdoor kitchen! This house is the dream home.
Let’s start at the front. There is a driveway for parking, a gate to the side, a pretty brick wall and courtyard. When you open the front door and enter the delightful sitting room you are struck with a warm homely sense of happiness. This house is great. The bay window, original fireplace, wood floors and gorgeous decoration make this room the perfect space for spending time with the family (or it could easily be a peaceful retreat to enjoy a quiet evening).
Open the pretty wood door with intricate glazing and it’s into the heart of 143 Mill Lane, and boy does this heart pump. There is a sitting area with wood floors, fireplace with tiled hearth and spot lights. This is joined to the huge kitchen to create the open plan living we all crave. The kitchen has a great floating island with a reclaimed wood work surface, sink, hanging pendants and bar stools. The Smeg range oven and extractor fan sit in a brick alcove with oak mantle. There are endless cupboards, cream floor tiles and double oven with a plate warming shelf and microwave. There are high ceilings and a glass roof. You can imagine a TV cookery programme being filmed in here.
You may think this is the end of the downstairs space, but oh no. There is a utility room and pantry, a boot room and the smartest downstairs WC we have ever seen. Then there is a big reception room with bifold doors that looks out onto the garden. This stunning room has exposed brick work, white painted wooden floors, a built in desk and shelving and is large enough to be a dining room, a playroom, an office or all three. The room is flooded with light from the fantastic roof window.
The garden sweeps from the side of the house, around to the back, down two levels and beyond. Railway sleepers have been installed to make a great border. There is lots of decking for sitting out on during the summer, a shed for all the bikes and gardening tools and a brick outdoor kitchen with sink. What more do you want from a garden?
It’s then up the stairs to the first floor. The first room you come across is the huge bathroom with stand-in shower, free standing bath tub and a large sash window. Mrs Clarke would never leave this room if she lived here. There is another original fireplace, old fashioned WC (don’t worry though, it is in perfect working order), towel rail and airing cupboard.
The master bedroom is stunning. The sash window provides lots of light and the lovely pendant lighting and designer fireplace are special touches. The Osborne & Little wallpaper is a glamorous feature.
On the second floor you find a further two bedrooms that have been cleverly designed to offer space and charm. One bedroom has a mezzanine space. Both rooms have Velux windows and second windows, which make them lovely and light. There is even a loft for storing all those important Christmas decorations.
But that is not all! There is a basement that has been fully converted to offer a space for a multitude of uses. It could be a cinema room, a fourth bedroom, an office or a storage room. It’s an added bonus to this great house to have another room.

Our favourite part
“The downstairs. There are lots of rooms for lots of uses. They are all linked by a fabulous kitchen. There is even the must have room for any modern house; the pantry, which we love.”
The semi rural dream
Bentley Heath is perfectly situated between Knowle and Dorridge. There are lots of lovely homes, a friendly community, great park and all the conveniences you could dream of between the three closely connected villages. Walking the children to school is like a fashion runway. Glamorous mums and dads always say hello.
There is heaps to do in and around Bentley Health whatever the weather. There’s the Four Ashes Golf Centre where the whole family can enjoy crazy golf, stately home Baddesley Clinton for a nice stroll to help blow away the cobwebs, swimming and lots of other sports activities available at the Tudor Grange Sports Centre or Touchwood if you fancy a bit of good old retail therapy.
Mr Clarke loves the fact that he’s a few minutes stroll from Dorridge Station where he can grab his favourite flat white right on the platform before boarding the 06:56 to London.
Car, Bus and Rail Transport connections are excellent. Bentley Heath is just minutes away from the Midlands Motorway Network with the M42 having links to the M1, M5, M6 and the M40. Birmingham Airport just 16 minutes by car and Solihull is a mere 5 minute drive where you’ll find an endless choice of bars, restaurants, shops and cafes.
