Mr Clarke thinks :
The unexpected bar in the garden is such a fantastic feature of Railway Cottage. Just imagine the fun to be had!

A country road leads to Railway Bridge Cottages, a modern cottage haven in the Warwickshire countryside. A fairy tale entrance through a wooden gate opens onto a beautiful lawn with grey stepping stone path leading to the storm porch entrance. Stepping into the entrance hall, the light cascading in from all sides is the first to greet you. Hang your jacket in the cloak cupboard and put on your slippers before stepping into the lounge.

The living room, with its bright windows and French doors allowing light to tumble in freely, is where you feel the pull to spend most of your time indoors. The room is versatile, with many possibilities and configurations – a reading nook in one corner, a home office in another, and a central congregating area in front of the beautiful log burner. The wood burner is the focal point of the lounge, and the statement rustic mantlepiece above provides ample room to style the area with decorative touches. On a beautiful summer’s day, throw open both sets of the French doors, letting in the fresh air. From here, the garden feels like an effortless extension of the room. Later in the evening, draw in the soft champagne-hued curtains, hems brushing along the floor.

Across the entrance hall, the wooden floors continue into the dining room. Here, the impressive fireplace recess and traditional tiled hearth serve as a reminder of the cottage’s history, and built-in cupboards on both sides provide more than enough storage for your dinner party tableware, linens, and tablescape accessories. The glass doors showcase your favourite pieces, while the cupboards underneath provide additional, discrete storage. Rays of sun bathe this cheerful room in natural light; your guests will love spending time in this enchanting entertaining space.

Further on, past the stairs is the cottage’s modern kitchen. This kitchen was designed to give a relaxed, inviting feel to this important part of the home. The resident culinary talent will enjoy the perfect touch the range gas hob gives to every meal. The breakfast bar is a wonderful recent addition to this kitchen. Enjoy your morning coffee here, soaking in those beautiful outdoor vistas, or use it as a change of scenery from your usual desk on work from home days.

Mrs Clarke loves :
The sun-filled lounge with its cosy wood burner and uninterrupted garden views.

As you make your way up the stairs, the window on the landing brightens the top story of the cottage. The remarkable wraparound garden of this home means there are several open countryside vistas, as well as a garden view from every room upstairs. In the private retreat of the main bedroom, windows on two sides of the room frame green views in all directions. Patterned grey and white tiles in the ensuite lead the eye to a large walk-in rainfall shower, whose soothing streams of water give a gentle start to the day. Traditional Victorian taps adorn an elegant ivory floor standing basin. Looking in the mirror, there is a clear reflection of the lush garden behind you.

Across the landing, the second bedroom has an unexpected feature - an exquisite fireplace with a traditional cast-iron fireplace surround. Alongside this breathtaking beauty, there are wardrobes, open shelves, and triple panel casement windows. The third double bedroom has elegant wooden floating shelves and an integrated double wardrobe, and the window of the fourth bedroom looks over the front garden. This room could easily evolve into a lovely home office, guest room, or snug.

In the family bathroom, enjoy a relaxing soak in the tub, complete with candles on the ample bathtub ledge and perhaps a glass of wine.

The extraordinary wrap-around garden at Railway Bridge Cottages feels like the home is set in a quintessential English novel. The southeast-facing front garden has certain je ne sais quoi; a pine bench here would make an idyllic reading spot, surrounded by colorful potted plants. Around the corner, the side garden is where the dog and children can really stretch their legs and run free, circling around the central tree.

Behind the cottage, there is a paved patio area between the kitchen and the independent utility room with room for a log store, potting area, and a barbecue to serve your guests at the outdoor dining table. Further afield, at the very end of the garden, is a driveway with off-street parking for four cars, an outbuilding, and a workshop space. But the quirkiest, most fun feature of this spectacular garden? An outdoor bar masquerading as a summer house!

Summary :

  • Setting :  A picturesque Warwickshire village with a vibrant neighbouring spa town.
  • Imagination :  Perhaps you’d like to add a fire pit or outdoor kitchen – the sky's the limit here at Railway Cottage.
  • Plot Twist :  Your very own garden bar!
  • Three words :  Delightful. Picturesque. Haven.

Our favourite part
The sweeping garden is the star here. It adds so much beauty, life, and possibilities to this home.

Offchurch

Great pub and great community

If it is village life that you want but you also need to be close to an urban hub to grab a flat white then Offchurch will suit you perfectly. The village is picture postcard stuff, it is like living in the movie The Holiday - you can play Jude Law or Kate Winslett. The homes are all gorgeous, the locals are friendly and all like like extras from The Holiday! There is lots of Barbour, every other car is a Land Rover and you are always greeted with a warm smile when out walking the dog. This is village life.

But what about that flat white! Do not fear. Leamington is only three miles away and there are plenty of great cafes to get your caffeine fix.

The Stag is the local boozer. It is the perfect blend of local drinkers and visiting foodies. The bar staff are all charming and after a few weeks your "usual" will be waiting for you on that 7.30pm "oh I'm just popping out with the dog darling"!

You are connected to London via the train station in Leamington or the M40, Birmingham Airport is not far, neither is the M1. So we think you are pretty well served from transport links.

Local schools, both private and state, are great, there are lots of clubs for kids to join locally and sports team for all ages to join.

A village with personality and charm

  • Stores: Leamington is a shoppers paradise.
  • Supermarket: All the biggies are close, but everyone gets deliveries around here.
  • Pubs: The Stag is the dream.
  • Walks: Endless countryside walks along the canal
