We all crave a house that will provide space for the whole family - somewhere that we can open the door and instantly make it into our home.

The inside outside feel.

This three storey house, in the pretty village of Berwick, East Sussex is an ideal home that has been cleverly designed and beautifully decorated. From the moment you pull the car onto the large gravel driveway you appreciate that no expense has been spared and modern life has been considered.

When you walk through the front door the first thing you notice is the space. The entrance hall is wide and has room to dump bags, coats and shoes. The hallway leads to a vast open-plan kitchen that is worthy of the pages of an interior design magazine. We love the central island where you can stand and prepare family meals whilst looking out through the bifold doors to the stunning garden and countryside views beyond. From the kitchen you are connected to the rest of the downstairs and life flows through the kitchen, which gives the home a sociable vibe. There is space for a huge dining table and there are endless work surfaces and cupboards to hide everything away to allow you to live a clutter free lifestyle. There are three further living spaces downstairs. The conservatory is bright and spacious with gorgeous garden views and an easy connection to the patio. The living room has a big sofa, large TV and a big log burner.

We can imagine the whole family curling up with Netflix and a bag of popcorn each! The reception room at the front of the house is perfect for a study or a playroom. It could also have a sofa bed and double up as a guest bedroom for sleep overs. A utility room is vital for modern life - you need somewhere to drop washing, dirty dogs, football boots and wet coats. This utility room is perfect. There is a door to the outside so you can come straight in if you have been out with the dog or if you want to hang the washing out. There are loads of cupboards and hooks to keep things neat and tidy. There is also a downstairs cloak room.

One of the many highlights of this home is the new garden building. This is no ordinary shed or boring garage. This is a beautifully constructed outbuilding with three rooms, clad in burnt larch and built to the highest standards. The first room has full width bi-fold doors and is currently used as a gym. There is a TV socket, electrics and all the mod cons to use it as an office, cinema, art studio or a yoga room. The other two rooms are great store rooms where you can hide everything from tins of Farrow and Ball paint to the kids bikes.

There are four bedrooms set over the first and second floor. The Master Bedroom is more like a boutique hotel in LA than a normal family bedroom. The double height ceilings, balcony and gorgeous en-suite bathroom that has the biggest walk-in shower and stand alone bath. The two double bedrooms on the first floor and large and bright and have plenty of storage space. The bedroom on the top floor is wonderful - there are Velux windows looking out across the Sussex countryside and there is lots of space for a privacy seeking child to make this a floor of their own. The Family Bathroom is newly updated and is a very chic place to take a morning bath or for kids bath time. The back garden has been beautifully landscaped and has lawn for playing and a patio area for soaking up evening sun and alfresco dining.

Friendly Vibes


Some villages are created better than others and Berwick is at the top of the village charts for us:
The setting is stunning. Nestled in the heart of the beautiful Sussex countryside, close to the seaside, surrounded by gorgeous hills & nature reserves and amongst other pretty villages.
The community is super friendly. The Land Lord at The Berwick Inn provides a warm welcome and will soon know your “usual”. The neighbours have a Whatsapp group so if you are ever short on sugar for a Victoria sponge you can drop them all a message.
The annual Berwick Produce Festival is keenly contested where locals bring their fruit and veg to be judged… there is also baking, kiddie activities and has been going for 60 years. You better get growing!
The transport links are incredible. The train station will whizz you into London, Brighton or Lewes (the last train from Lewes is around midnight and is much cheaper than a taxi!) The A27 is close by so you can zip into Brighton or Eastbourne. You are seriously well connected.

Who lives in Berwick? All sorts of characters and they are all lovely. There are lots of kids of all ages, couples of all ages and lots of friendly dogs (of all ages).
Yummy Mummies and Dapper Daddies will be found at Middle Farm and Drusillas Park during the day, and drinking trendy Gin Cocktails together in Lewes by night!
Commuters can be seen boarding the train in Berwick on a morning and returning home in time for bath time!
Kids can hop on the free school bus to the very highly regarded Alfriston School.

Rural Idyll

  • Supermarket: Waitrose and Aldi in Lewes - what more do you need!
  • Pubs: The Berwick Inn is a great boozer, The Cricketer's Arms is pretty and then we suggest you try every local one (there are lots)
  • Walks: Endless countryside walks of all distances on your doorstep
