Mr Clarke thinks :
The character and creative potential.
When a house has its own postcode, you know it is truly something to behold and Wagster Cottage is just that. Set in a secluded plot, on a quiet single track lane, this beautiful cottage boasts three double bedrooms as well as a fully contained annexe. This modern Annexe has been lovingly constructed to compliment the Grade II listed cottage and is joined by a glass tunnel, separating the new from the old.
As you enter through the gate, you find yourself in a wonderland with separate gardens, space for the chickens, fruit trees, a workshop, sheds, summerhouse and picturesque views across the open countryside.
Step inside, and you find yourself immediately in the open plan kitchen diner, with its exposed beams and slate tiled floors. This space is ideal for entertaining grown ups and having play dates over, with the kitchen having a range of cupboards, gas hobs and oil fired Rayburn stove (now disconnected). The dining area has enough room for a large family to dine comfortably in front of the log burner.
Moving through the dining room, you have a hallway leading you in one of three directions. There is a glass door leading into the wooden framed conservatory, stairs up to the first floor and a further door opening into the large lounge with inglenook fireplace and inset log burning stove. This surprisingly large room lends itself to family life well, whether it be watching your favourite Netflix series or gathering the whole family to play their favourite board game, this room is ideal for everything.
Upstairs the original cottage has three double bedrooms, a bathroom and separate WC. The Oak beams give the cottage a wealth of character and no matter which window you look out of the views are plentiful. From the lounge you have a further bathroom and kitchenette which have been installed to serve the fully contained annexe.
Mrs Clarke loves :
Watching the surrounding wildlife and landscapes throughout the seasons.
This annexe has its own dressing room, lounge with log burner and French doors opening into the landscaped gardens. Looking up you find a mezzanine balcony bedroom with space for a double bed under two skylights, giving its occupier a perfect view of the stars on a clear night.
The surrounding Warwickshire countryside will give you all the entertainment you need on a summers evening, then when winter comes you can curl up and read your favourite book in front of the log burner. This is simply a great house in immaculate condition, in an unbeatably quiet location, awaiting its new family. You can move in and unwind blissfully. The driveway having enough space for multiple cars and leading up to the double garage with planning for new conventional tiled roof or other.
- Three words : Location. Style. Entertaining.
Our favourite part
The house layout and build quality are impeccable.
Nestled in the beautiful green fields of the north Warwickshire countryside sits the small town of Shustoke.
Luxury is living in an idyllic spot, away from prying eyes where you can enjoy life without interference.
Whilst feeling like you are in the middle of the countryside, a much needed retreat from the fast pace world of the cities, you are actually so well connected that you can enjoy the benefits of both countryside living and city entertainment and connectivity. Birmingham, Coventry and Solihull are all twenty minutes away or better still, that same distance could get you on the nearest plane ready to jet you off to far reaching destinations.
Whatever your mode of transport the choice is there; M42, M6, Coleshill and Birmingham International train stations and the excellent Birmingham International Airport are all within touching distance yet far enough to feel that disconnect from the outside world. Not forgetting the future HS2 station which will be within a ten minute drive.
Shustoke is a small village offering all the best of countryside living. The local pubs serving homemade ales and fresh food. A must try is the hunters chicken at the cottage inn, yum! There are endless weekends of enjoyment on the footpaths and cycle networks meandering though the countryside. Just mentioning a few, Shustoke reservoir & Kingsbury Water Park are all within touching distance.
Don’t worry if this sounds too tranquil for you as Coleshill is only seven minutes drive and it provides you with all the necessities; supermarkets, butchers, post office and restaurants. Or if you just fancy just a cream tea and a read of your country living magazine there are a number of boutique cafes on the quaint high street to test out.
