Mr Clarke enjoys :
City style living with the countryside closer than you think
With no chain and sitting proudly above the Newport landscape in the Beechwood part of the city, is this semi-detached Cornish style home which combines the traditional and modern. This type of home has become an iconic addition to British neighbourhoods with its distinctive mansard hipped roof. Number 10 has been lovingly renovated from top to bottom to create this warm home you now see.
Opening the front door you step into the hallway and to your left is the lounge perfect for putting the feet up and catching up on the next Peaky Blinders episode or finishing your latest novel in front of the fireplace. The welcoming hallway leads to the hub of the house; the kitchen with its modern and tasteful units and perfectly tiled floor that is right on-trend. There’s also a perfect snug area where you can look onto the beautiful garden (or if the lounge is taken up you can have a quiet moment to yourself). Now we’ve mentioned the garden we could describe how beautiful it is, but you should see it for yourself. It’s like your own arboretum to enjoy and admire. Having the patio next to the house makes it super easy to bring dinner out onto the decking area and eat alfresco. The owner has had some great parties in this space. It’s also a perfect spot for sunbathing or just relaxing on a balmy summer evening.
Climb the stairs to discover the upper floor of 3 bright bedrooms which all have plenty of storage space. The two bedrooms at the front look out over the whole of Newport, quite spectacular, on a clear day you can spot Clevedon in the distance. The short landing leads off to another bedroom that overlooks the gorgeous garden. The Family Bathroom has been updated and is a calm place to take a morning bath or for kids bath time - and we're sure they’ll love the beach themed decor here. As the owner has a new home to go to, this becomes a no hassle move.
Mike has lived in and around Cardiff and Newport all of his life and has a deep knowledge of the Beechwood area. The location of this home is fantastic; it's a true gem inside and out. He looks forward to showing you around.
Mrs Clarke loves :
The beautiful garden, and those tiled floors!
Set in the evergreen and friendly Beechwood area, this lovely home is one of six that sits at the Eastern end of a quiet street. Just a couple of minutes walk and you can be enjoying life wandering around Beechwood Park, kicking through the leaves on a brisk autumnal morning walk or watching the kids play joyfully on the swings. You can also explore Beechwood House designed in a classical style using bath stone, by taking in an event or two that they run or grabbing a quick coffee before the school run.
You can read more about the location below, so we thought we’d take this opportunity to say: this is a wonderful space you can move straight into and call home. The current owner has called this home for 22 years - it’s easy to see why you can get so comfortable here. This is perfectly formed for a discerning family both inside and out.
- Style : A lovely home re-designed for modern living
- Three words : Location. Garden. Space.
- No chain:
Our favourite part
The wonderfully bright and open kitchen and living space.
A collection of greenery in Newport
The Beechwood area of Newport is a leafy neighbourhood, only a few miles out from the city centre. It's well known for its tranquil Victorian park featuring Beechwood House, which is both a beautiful Grade II listed building and a creative community venue. Beechwood Park is right on your doorstep so you can look forward to weekend strolls in crunchy-leaf Autumn through to summery picnic days. If you want to indulge, head to the 5 star luxury Celtic Manor (which is a five-minute drive away up Christchurch) to top up on your golf skills, or pamper yourself with a facial and relax in the jacuzzi.
Kitting out your new home will be easy if you go and speak to Paul in Beechwood Beds, and if its a candle you’re after then he has plenty of these too. If your taste in furniture is somewhat more vintage the Umbrella Project has loads of pieces ready painted in Annie Sloan’s Paris Grey which is just down the road in Maindee. It's worth making a morning of treasure hunting here to be honest!
Newport's food icon Palfrey’s is a stone throw away, where the Beef Wellington prepared by butcher Mark will become a weekly staple. If you like Middle Eastern cuisine then Sen BBQ fights for supremacy in our house...which I’m sure is the same in many homes across the city. You get to know the coffee shop owners here, and everyone is super friendly, so you will feel welcomed for sure.
Beechwood is served by some cracking primary schools; Eveswell, and St Julians Comprehensive is not too far away either. You're well connected here too. There’s plenty of great transport links throughout the city so when Christmas shopping calls, you don't need the headache of finding somewhere to park. If you're heading further afield, turn onto Chepstow Road and you can be on the M4 within a few minutes, or head northeast from there and the countryside awaits at Wentwood Forest - wonderful!
